Kitty Pryde, codename Shadowcat, smiled as she set down her backpack next to the front door and sighed. She was home. Visiting Deerfield was nice, but her mom was so....Jewish. Wanted her to grow up, get over her 'phase' (no pun intended), and settle down with a nice Jewish boy, like Tommy Lewiski from down the street. Kitty wanted the X-Men. She didn't want Tommy Lewiski and three nice Jewish children.
Examining the room, she sighed again, nostalgia overflowing her senses. Memories flooded her brain, assulting her vision until all she could see was the fight with the Brotherhood, Jean dying, the Professor's grave. Biting her lip, she sniffled. She had cried all she could cry over them, but that didn't mean she wasn't upset.
Taking a deep breath, she gathered her backpack again. Time to reacquaint herself. She bit her lip, trying to decide where to go first.

Walking past the entrance hall, Destiny looked up from the book she held in her hands. Her lips slowly curved into a small smile as she heard familliar sounds that had once been in her ear. She continued to walk past until she was right behind the girl, and slowly leaned over her shoulder.
"Welcome back Kitty, did you enjoy your visit back to Deerfield?"
There was a hint of sarcasm in her voice as she teased Kitty about her quiet hometown. That's what she did in her spare time, was tease some of the students about their pasts and how much their powers have evolved. Over all, Destiny was a rather serious student, with a casual and fun-loving side that was seen on rare occasions.

Kitty made a face, "Hello Destiny." Though not her favourite person in the mansion, Kitty was determined to be nice to everyone, knowing that they were all still hurting from their losses. Destiny seemed to make it a point to tease Kitty about her rather monotonous upbringing and her quiet, sleepy hometown.
"Deerfield was nice, a change from the mansion, but it was nice to visit the temple and my old neighbors," Kitty smiled a little The ones that aren't afraid of me, in any case.. "What are you reading now? I would think that you've gone over every book in the library at least twice by now. Starting on your third round?" She teased a little, knowing that Destiny's studiousness led her to read a lot. They had often passed each other in the library, returning or retrieving books.

With a small nod, she held up the book so Kitty could read the title. Still Me by Christopher Reeve. Yes, she had read it before, a few times in fact, mostly because she loved his definition of a hero.
'I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to perservere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.'
"It's a wonderful book Kitty, you should read it sometime," she smiled. "And actually, I think I have read every book in the library a few times now. We should really talk to Storm about updating to get some newer ones."

Kitty smiled, nodding when she saw the title of the book. She hadn't read it before, but then again, she tended to stick to fantasy and science fiction. Dragons were more her thing. "I'll pick it up next time I'm out," she smiled, shifting her bag on her shoulder. "And I was just going to drop my stuff off and find Storm, I could mention it to her. Maybe she'd even let me help her get some. I've been meaning to start cataloging the library anyway, in case its ever formally appraised or something, I have enough on my laptop to write a program for it. What do you think? I could use your input, you're in there often enough."
She grinned a little, "Should I catalog the library, like, Dewey Decimal and put it online for everyone to use? It'd make books easier to find, for sure."

With a small smile, Destiny nodded with approval. "That would make things so much easier," she said with enthusiasm. "This way I could actually see where the book is, instead of having to scour the entire room."
New ideas always got her excited, and she loved seeing them through. That was one of Destiny's best features, she was determined.
"What do you think Storm would say?" she asked with curiousity.

"I'm not sure," Kitty smiled, shrugging as she shifted her weight a little, "I had talked to the Professor before...well, before....." She trailed off. It was still really awkward discussing the Professor or Jean or Scott for her, it was so weird. She still expected them to walk around the corner, smiling and joking and urging everyone to get to class.
Sighing, she shrugged, "The Professor had expressed interest in one day getting the library appraised, and asked if I could help. I'm sure Storm would agree that its a mess, and the least I could do for her is help organise it."

Destiny nodded, eyes downcast as she remembered her fallen friends and teachers. She wished that she could have helped, and perhaps been able to save not only the Professer, Scott and Jean, but the innocent people that were killed by the Phoenix and Magneto.
"Well, perhaps we can make it happen....for the Professer," she added with a small smile.
Deep within her heart, sorrow had taken over when she remembered those she had loved and lost, but anger and pure hatred rumbled when she remembered the destruction Magneto had caused. She hated him for it, and swore that she would get her revenge on him. Not only for those who had been killed recently, but for her parents.

Kitty smiled softly, she knew she wasn't the only one who had been deeply affected by the Professor's death, but sometimes it seemed that way. She had been brought here by the Professor, he had gone to her house and talked with her parents. He had helped her feel as if she belonged somewhere, and shown her that she didn't have to conform to the normalcy of society.
"I'll go ask Storm," Kitty smiled, "After I put my stuff up. Do you know where she is?"

Kitty nodded, "Well, I'm sure she'll find me before I even go looking for her. I'm just going to drop this," she motioned to her bag, "In my room. It was nice seein' you, Destiny." She smiled, lifting her bag back onto her shoulder, "I'll see you around, yeah?" She winked, adjusting her grip on the backpack before heading to the stairs, taking her time on the way up.

With a small nod, Destiny gave Kitty a smile in return.
"You can count on it kid," she said, turning away.
She headed back upstairs, to the library where she could relax and begin her meditation. Other students thought her weird for doing so, but Destiny liked the peace that she found within the library walls.
